Did you know???

" The current animal cruelty sections of the Criminal Code were written in 1892 and are full of loopholes that allow many animal abusers to fall through the cracks" www.cfhs.ca. In 1892 women were not considered "persons" under the law.

Times have changed... and our Canadian Criminal Code needs to as well.

According to the Criminal Code animals are considered property. Meaning a Peace Officer has no more of a right to remove an animal from a private dwelling as they do a TELEVISION.

The Criminal Code needs to be updated!!!

You can write to your MP or MLA, or better yet ask for a meeting to address your concerns regarding the treatment of animals and the punishment of their abusers.

Did you also know that a labradoodle is not a breed of dog. It is a mutt. You can not breed two labradoodles together and get another labradoodle offspring.
The new trend in pet stores and online are designer breeds. These designer breeds are being sold for top dollar and they are not pure breds.
Albertas' shelters and rescue groups are bursting at the seams with a large variety of "designer breeds" (a.k.a. Mutts) for a much more reasonable price.

Did you know... majority of pet stores across Canada get their dogs from puppy mills?
http://www.nopuppymillscanada.ca/ps.htm is a great website for information on puppy mills and backyard breeders.

Each and every one of us has the ability to 1. Change the laws to better protect our animals and 2. Buy from responsible breeders, shelters, and rescues. The best way to stop puppy mills is to stop giving them our money.
You can also write a letter to your local pet store urging them to please stop selling puppies and to support local shelters and humane societies. Get a group of fellow animal lovers together for a peaceful protest against pet stores selling dogs. Stop shopping at pet stores that sell animals.

Recently, the city of Toronto banned pet stores from selling dogs. Richmond, B.C. has also done the same.

Let's make Canada a puppy mill free Nation!!!
